killer banjo skills

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Steve Martin plays the banjo. Here's a cute song he and his band played on SNL.

This is a nice clip. I've always enjoyed banjo music.

Did you hear the NPR clip on Martin's banjo CD? Apparently he used his playing skills when he was starting out in comedy. He would play, juggle and do other stuff between his jokes. He played a few licks in the interview and they were very good.

Sarah I enjoyed the NPR clip on Steve Martin and his banjo. I must say that seeing him play I realized that its the back up people that had the most skills. I thought he was playing while he was singing, but it looks like it was mostly the guy with the mandolin. Still, it takes talent and even though I once thought I would love to play the banjo, I can't work my fingers to even strum a little note.
I'll bet you could find the interview on the internet.

Sarah, are you like those girls in one of the other skits on the episode who were singing about their love for Steve Martin? I also read a really funny book by Kristen Gore, a former SNL writer, and the protagonist had a huge on Steve Martin. It is called "sammy's Hill". very funny. I think you could probably find the interview on npr.org. I want to hear it too now.
